An art print of the original oil pastel painting "The Rolling, Sighing Sky" by Kristin Vanderlip.

“The Rolling, Sighning Sky" is a colorful, abstract horizon featuring a rich blue sky, with rolling white clouds blended with touches of fuchsia, subtle purple, and light pink. The sky "sighs" over a landscape of greens.

The inspiration for the title of this painting comes from Mary Oliver's poem "On the Flats," in Little Allelulias, which I was reading during the time I created this painting. In the poem, she describes the sea as sighing, but I thought so much about how this is such an apt way to talk about the sky as well. The poem, this painting, makes me think of our longings.
