This painting was inspired by the coastal views I’ve come to love along the Pacific Coast. The ocean has always had a pull on me, returning to the sea in different seasons.

“Each Cycle is Valid” is named after words from Anne Morrow Lindbergh’s Gift from the Sea: "Perhaps this is the most important thing for me to take back from beach-living: simply the memory that each cycle of the tide is valid; each cycle of the wave is valid; each cycle of the relationship is valid."

This piece features a smooth blend of sweeping colors alongside dashes of thick, textured pastel. That contrast reflects the rhythms of life—some seasons calm and fluid, others rougher and more raw. Yet each one, like the ocean’s tide, has meaning. Each cycle is valid.
