An original oil pastel mini-painting, hand-painted by Kristin
Vanderlip.

This oil pastel mini was painted en plein air on a quiet beach in Half Moon Bay, California. Soothing, lighter tones and sweeping strokes reflect the peace I was seeking the day I painted it.

The title, "To Be at Peace with Myself," comes from Anne Morrow Lindbergh’s Gift from the Sea, where she writes: "But I want first of all—in fact, as an end to these other desires—to be at peace with myself."

That line stayed with me. This painting—and the beach day that inspired it—was a small step toward that kind of peace. May you continue the worth pursuit of being at peace with yourself.
