I’m more acquainted with grief and sorrow than I ever wanted. And maybe you are too.

During my dark nights of wondering, wandering, wrestling, and weeping, the pain churning within me needed a place to go and a path to get there. ⁣As I began to write my grief, my journal pages offered me this space and provided a path and safe place for my pain to rest.⁣

I began to bear the unbearable as I wrote and lamented on the page. ⁣

For the past year, I have been creating a thoughtfully designed grief journal that combines the therapeutic benefits of writing with the sacred, spiritual practice of lament.

I’d like you to meet Rest: A Journal for Lament.

Rest: A Journal for Lament offers a safe space for processing pain and finding hope in grief. It uses a simple, yet powerful four-part journaling structure that can help you express your thoughts and feelings while writing a path through the pain to hope and healing for your life.

Let me tell you why I’m such a proponent of journaling using a structured journaling approach like the one you’ll find in the Rest Journal:

  1. It helps give us a shape to work with when our experiences, thoughts, and emotions might feel chaotic, disorganized, and unclear (without shaping our thoughts and telling us what exactly to think).
  2. It invites us not just to pour out but also to pivot our thoughts. It honors our honest experiences while helping us get unstuck from unhelpful or unhealthy places we can often go to in difficult moments.
  3. What we repeatedly think and write carves out pathways in our minds (there’s some nerdy brain science behind all of this, that I just love, but won’t get into right now); this repetitive journaling structure helps us develop healing pathways for processing our pain and even renew our minds (and our hope).

While I wish we wouldn’t need a journal like this, the reality is we do. And instead of pretending like there’s no darkness or pain or being paralyzed by them, this journal acts as a companion and guide.

I want you to know that I created a high-quality journal with customized features because I wanted it to be worthy of holding the sacredness of your sorrows and heart’s cries inside its pages.
